Open letter to all ladies

By Sylvanus Omoniyi OPEN LETTER TO LADIES Moment of introspection. This is strictly for matured girls and women. They say women and ladies and girls like to form. It is good. The wisdom of it is to know when to throw your formality in the waste basket. There is this bad thing about some ladies: always playing hard to get. You should stop it, so that you don't cry silently at the end. The world is becoming more advanced everyday. Gone are the days when men fight because of women. The world has more than enough women now. Delete the old school mentality. If a guy approaches you that he wants a relationship, if you love him, don't pretend. Accept his proposal and move on in the relationship. That does not mean you are cheap. It means you are real and sincere. Anyone who thinks you are cheap because a guy speaks to you in a day and you said YES in the same day is stupid. Why postpone what you love? Postponing a proposal and playing hard-to-get does not make you a saint or a respo

Aaron Ramsey central to Arsenal's title charge

Image
Ramsey central to Arsenal title charge. By Kunle Adegunoye. Forget Petr Cech and Mezut Ozil, Arsenal needs Aaron Ramsey to stay fit if they are to bring the EPL trophy to North London come May. An all action display at the middle of the park against City is all you need to rate him head and shoulders above others. With his short, pinpoint and lucid passes, he made the midfield pentumvate of David Silva, fabian Delph, Yaya Toure, Fernandinho and Kevin De bruyne looked short of ideas. The major concern regarding Ramsey’s suitability for the position is his lack of defensive discipline but here he rarely strayed far from Mathieu Flamini’s side when City were on the prowl and even made the odd crunching tackle, such as one on David Silva in the 29th minute. When Arsenal had possession, the 24-year-old was willing and able to get forward, surging into the area on the hour to force a fine block from Joe Hart. It was another more-than-encouraging central display by Ramsey and a remi

Watch and weep...lol. This is over the use of a ladder to climb down the plane saga that happened in an airport in Nigeria yesterday. Seriously, I don't blame them for laughing. It's pathetic.

A legend is born today. By Kunle Adegunoye

Happy birthday Mr President Without mincing words, I found you a great leader. Your methods I sometimes questions but I realized it was all for good. Your experience was the greatest asset I benefitted from my time at ULSU and your sincerity and blunt nature I revered. May the good Lord lift you higher than you've envisaged. Thanks for accepting my flaws and seeing me the way I am. I won't forget you anytime soon Pressy. I'll one day tell my children about you. The entire Akokites know that "you were there" even now that the phone is no longer ringing. And if the gods and goddesses of this universe allow me to write my biography, I'll dedicate a beautiful page to you. Happy birthday to the University of Lagos unsung hero. May your legend ever lives. Long live the University of Lagos Student's Union. Long live the first President ten years after proscription.

Princess Diana would have found franca's usefulness impressive

Image
By Kunle Adegunoye She left an impression on me the moment we walked into Dr Ogunleye's office as I saw the quality of interview questions she had prepared. I had walked into the office thinking random questions about the department and his personality will suffice but was left stupefied with Francesca brilliance and creativity. I did not remember to appreciate her but knew back then that a lot would have gone into putting those good feel wisdoms together. Beyond definitions real or imagine. Chesca as fondly called is dearly in daring. A pleasant persona of pure inclinations. A passionate actress of many seasons. Unapologetic in her opinions with assuming positivity, Franca epitomises the newest generation of African female song and novel writers (Asa and Chimamanda adichie) using their talents to narrate what they feel strongly about. Little did we know of her sewing prowess combined with some fabric designs I first thought were children's cartoons. She personified the

Jose Mourinho: May your legend ever lives

In response to a comment thread where someone attributed mourinho sack to God's way of humbling him and felt his mouth diarrhea equally contributed. My response; That mouth diarrhea is what the English Premier League will miss about him. He went to Italy and made their league an exciting one to watch. He went to Spain and made la liga the league to reckon with. He came back to England and every manager were kept on their toes. All through his triumphant voyage, he did not leave behind his wits, arrogance and sense of humour. He made the referee association sit up in every of these three leagues. He wasn't humbled by God but rather elevated. CFC admitted he's the best manager of all time. He's the only manager to be hired, fired, rehired and refired. And very soon, he will continue that trend with Madrid Lest I forget to add, the only reason why thousands sit to watch his prematch and postmatch talks is because he doesn't bore you. Against Southampton, he

Lagos is not my home; I'm just passing through. By Kunle Adegunoye.

We hold these truths to be self evident; that Lagos with its warmth is a city to all, yet for none. Fused with metallic hustlers, it bustles each new day to traffic and  brisk pedestrians. Lagos has never been, will never be and has never aspired to be like Ondo or anywhere else for that matter. Lagos has been indisputably itself but you would not know this if you've not been to Yaba, Idumota, Bariga, Mushin or Oshodi, places where you walk with full concentration to avoid been pick-pocketed, meet different people of different tongues and tribes working hard to make ends meet. Evident it is, that Lekki is the part of Lagos closest to heaven, that after such a brutal week, we deserve a weekend with weddings, parties and festivities. Yet, it just doesn't interest me. If it isn't Ondo, it can't be Ondo. That Fashola did the work with Tinubu behind him, that  Allahu Akbar no dey disturb revival. Yet, Ondo did not have a governor like Fashola and two religion

HYPOCRISY MEMO .......... A THIRD PARTY MEMO TO PRESIDENT BUHARI

Image
Dele Momodu with President Muhammadu Buhari By Dele Momodu Your Excellency, it’s been months since I wrote my desperate memo to you. I wish to thank you once more for reacting promptly and swiftly at that time and for giving me the honour and privilege of meeting you in your office. I remember presenting you a special compilation of my articles, especially the many admonitions to your immediate predecessor, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. After handing over the book to you, Sir, I promised to continue acting in my self-appointed capacity as Special Adviser because of the need to tell you what those very close to you might not be able to say.  They might be afraid of you and your reaction. The truth is you are a plain and simple man imbued with a mission and a passion to save this great country but you cannot do it on your own.  You can only do it if people close to you, who should be advising you, tell you as it is so that you can do that which you were elected to do. ADEBOYE AND OYEDEPO: MEN OF GOD OR MEN OF GOB? by Sylvanus Omoniyi

I want to say something. It is important. But before then, I want to thank all my enemies all over the world who have been supporting me. May God support you with evil things. Also, I want to appreciate all the witches and wizards in the world who dearly love me. Thank you very much. If witches and wizards could like me, who are you not to like me? I have given up on humanity because everyone is stupid. I have decided to be true to my heart because people are not reasonable again, especially in Nigeria. I am yet to find a single reasonable being in Africa. Everyone in Africa is an asshole. We are dumb asses. See, it is not that I derive any pleasure from insulting people. Not at all. The only thing is that I get pissed off when people are being unreasonable.  I have been performing a lot of experiments. On social media. And in reality. You cannot even understand the way I think. Everyday, I strive to be less afraid and to have more freedom. I try to look at things and people and und

Top seven most popular confraternities (cult groups) in Nigeria and their history

1)Pyrate Confraternity Ahoi-Seadog In 1952, Wole Soyinka and a group of six friends (Ralph Opara, Ikhehare Aig-Imokhuede, Sylvanus Egbuchie, Nathaniel Oyelola, Pius Oleghe, Olumuyiwa Awe) formed the Pyrate Confraternity at the elite University College, Ibadan, then part of the University of London. According to the Pyrates, the “Magnificent Seven”, as they called themselves, observed that the university was populated with wealthy students associated with the colonial powers and a few poorer students striving in manner and dress to be accepted by the more advantaged students, while social life was dictated by tribal affiliation. Soyinka would later note that the Pyrates wanted to differentiate themselves from “stodgy establishment and its pretentious products in a new educational institution different from a culture of hypocritical and affluent middleclass, different from alienated colonial aristocrats”. The organization also known as the National Association of Seadogs (NAS) ado

CELELAG, one day I'll write about you again.

"It comes up in a surprising number of conversations these days. And no one’s quite sure how to respond to it. The issue? Even committed church attenders are attending church less often. Sure, the trend has been happening for years (gone are the days when people attended 50 out of 52 Sundays), but the issue is reaching a tipping point in the church today. " For a young man who left the shore of Delta to further in Lagos, attending church was always going to be a big issue. Attending Celelag was even going to be tougher. Not because of the satirical subjects Celestial church members were reduced to as a result of their flowing white garments (sultana) nor the false perception friends and classmates have about me being diabolically powerful, it just did happened that some self serving individuals had before my arrival at Abraka soiled the name of the church. My entry into Celelag gate was not as triumphant as my entry to the school. Ola, a guitarist, convinced me  time

Don't equate love with sexual performance, take a step further

Sex. The word can evoke a kaleidoscope of emotions. From love, excitement, and tenderness to longing, anxiety, and disappointment—the reactions are as varied as sexual experiences themselves. What's more, many people will encounter all these emotions and many others in the course of a sex life spanning several decades. But what is sex, really? On one level, sex is just another hormone-driven bodily function designed to perpetuate the species. Of course, that narrow view underestimates the complexity of the human sexual response. In addition to the biochemical forces at work, your experiences and expectations help shape your sexuality. Your understanding of yourself as a sexual being, your thoughts about what constitutes a satisfying sexual connection, and your relationship with your partner are key factors in your ability to develop and maintain a fulfilling sex life. Talking to your partner Many couples find it difficult to talk about sex even under the best of circumstan
