Associates of LJLA in a class on Public Service Rules with Mr Femi Solaja

May 23rd, the Class of Pacesetters, Associates of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, continued their introduction into the Public Service system, which they began learning last week.

The sessions were facilitated by Mr Femi Solaja and Mr Abidogun who trained the Associates on Appointments in the Public Service and Lagos State Creation and Establishments, respectively. Recall that last week, the PSSDC began facilitating these sessions on Public Service Rules and the Lagos State Administrative Structure.

The Associates had the opportunity to widen their horizon as regards the different types of appointments and recruitment processes in the public service. The astute facilitator emphasized the importance of merit-based appointments, where talented and dedicated individuals are chosen based on their skills and abilities. They were also introduced to other types of appointments, such as temporary appointments, probationary appointments, and more, all which provide opportunities for individuals with exceptional skills and expertise to contribute to public service.

The training did not exclude reserve and quota-based appointments, which prioritize underrepresented communities and promote social justice and inclusivity. These appointments aim to create a diverse society where equality is valued. Internships, apprenticeships and traineeships are also opportunities provided by the Public Service in nurturing emerging talents and preparing them for public service.

Finally, the course encouraged Associates to celebrate the diverse opportunities in public service and work together to create a future where excellence, compassion, and integrity prevail.
