Office of The President.

Greatest Akokites!!!
The University of Lagos Students’ Union, following the conundrum that trails the incessant spiral of protests that took place in the past few weeks, it is imperative to unequivocally state that none of these was led or supported by any member of the executives.

It is true we clamoured for a ‘violence free’ and uninterrupted Academic calendar at the inception of office and it is on this ground we stand without fear or fright. We are Akokites and we respect our words.

This is not to say we are cowards, we have seen things from a better focus of view because we don't want to put the cart before the horse (protest). It is only an insane, that'll keep doing the same thing the same way and expect a different result. What led to our proscription should'nt be the best precedence.
However, we shall continue to see things until the dreams of the ULSU we all fought for its re-instatement is actualized.

To whom much is given, much is expected.
The first expectation from this Union was to help negotiate deferment letters issued to victims of late course registration be rescinded. To the Glory of God, we achieved it.
The second was on the epileptic power supply. With ULSU’s intervention, the situation was fairly ameliorated, because we also understand the drop on the national grid.
The third was on the issue of examination postponement, We did promised you, and we did'nt fail on our promise.

On the issue of course editing, hostel bed-bug cases presented to the management among others, We still delivered your mandate.

These and many more were achieved through dialogue by the people you voted in, people with your interest at heart within 30 days in office.

We are not perfect, constructive criticism is welcomed within the ambit of civility.

The ULSU we dreamt of transcend beyond the four walls of this campus. Issues bordering on killings of students in other countries were responded to, with forceful vigor which signifies the reminiscence of a true union that cares about the worth of life. (see our press release of April, 2015 on the Al-shabbab killings in far-away Kenya), xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South-Africa (TRIBUNE, 21st of April, 2015 and The Nation, April 30, 2015), congratulatory messages sent to the vice-President elect, Prof Yemi Osinbajo and Lagos state Governor’s elect, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode who are Alumni of this University (see April dailies).

It is on this note, we vehemently condemn in strong terms, actions and reactions of some students who were involved in the incessant confrontation, unnecessary protest, vandalization of school properties, physical assault on Moremi girls, locking of school gates and causing traffic throughout the length and breadth of our esteemed campus.

These accounts for the reasons why some online media headlines was tagged "UNILAG students' staged twin protest within a period of 15 days".

We, Students’ Union executives will never engage in any activity that will bring disrepute to the name of this institution, disturb the public peace and relegate our status as the University of First Choice and nation’s pride.
We say No to Violence! No to Vandalism! No to unnecessary protest!
